Healthy Lifestyles

The Healthy Life Styles Program helps build
healthy schools, healthy families, and healthy communities.

Healthy kids have higher attendance rates, higher test scores and behave better in class. Our Healthy Schools Program is an evidence-based initiative that will help you to create and sustain a healthy environment where your student(s) will learn better and flourish. We are the schools initiative to provide activities and celebrate programs that promote safe lifestyle practices to carry on and incorporate in everyday life.

What is the Healthy Zone School Program?

The Healthy Zone School Program is designed to recognize schools that have excellent health programs and to support schools looking to improve health programming. Schools are invited to participate in the program after going through a competitive selection process. Schools participate in the program for three years, during which eligible schools are given the chance to apply for promotion. It is a goal of the program to support all schools in achieving their health goals and to help each work through the three levels of the program. During their time in the program, schools receive support from the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and The Cooper Institute®.

What are the benefits of becoming part of the program?

Schools that are part of the Healthy Zone program will receive guidance from The Cooper Institute® and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to implement activities and health promotions. Schools will also receive these incentives:
– Healthy Zone Signage
– FitnessGram® license and webhosting
– $1,000 in funding for Physical Education equipment
– Up to $5,000 in funding for activity promotions over the program
